Grown on the rolling hills of Roxburgh, New Zealand. A generational commitment to animal well-being, ecological regeneration, and pure wool perfection.
Tallyho Limited is registered at Bay Street, Lower Hutt 5012, New Zealand, managing generational pastoral wool growing operations and high-country stations across the picturesque Clutha River corridor in Central Otago. Central Otago is renowned worldwide for having New Zealand's only continental-style climate: severe sub-zero winter frosts followed by hot, parched alpine summers.
This dramatic seasonal temperature swing acts as nature's crucible. In winter, our sheep develop dense, protective fleeces with exceptional fiber crimp to withstand icy southerly blasts. In summer, clean dry sunshine purges the wool of excess moisture and prevents fleece rot, yielding an unusually bright, resilient fleece with virtually zero yellowing.
At Tallyho Limited, animal welfare is non-negotiable. We do not practice mulesing—ever. Our sheep are genetically bred for bare-breech traits and high fly-strike natural resistance, eliminating the need for invasive surgical procedures.
Our flocks roam expansive open paddocks year-round with continuous shelter provided by native stands and shelterbelts. During annual shearing, we employ experienced, audited New Zealand shearing crews who practice calm, low-stress handling in our modernized timber woolshed.
Healthy wool begins in healthy living soil. We employ holistic rotational grazing that mimics natural herbivore migrations, allowing native grasses to build deep root networks and sequester atmospheric carbon into the Otago subsoil.
We protect ancient New Zealand silver tussock stands that naturally mitigate soil erosion and shelter biodiversity.
Fenced riparian zones along the Clutha and Teviot watercourses ensure zero agricultural runoff and protect local trout habitats.
Our woolshed and baling hydraulics leverage on-farm solar arrays, reducing the carbon footprint of every press-packed bale.
We regularly host international textile mill executives, fashion brands, and wool procurement delegations at our Roxburgh station.
